Description of rubber names, properties and USES

1. Natural rubber (NR) has comprehensive performance and simple processing technology. Its disadvantages include poor performance such as oil resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, chemical resistance and aging resistance.

Mainly used for tire, rubber tube, tape, medical supplies, sports supplies and some other industrial supplies.


The comprehensive performance of SBR is equal to that of natural rubber, while the abrasion and thermal aging performance is better than that of natural rubber.

Rubber hose, tires, tape.

Rubber shoes, and various industrial rubber products.


BR has good processing performance, excellent abrasion resistance and elasticity, less heat generation and good low temperature resistance.

Flexural flexibility is also good, but the tear strength and slip resistance are not.

It is widely used in tire, rubber tube, rubber belt, rubber shoes and other rubber products.


4. Chloroprene rubber (CR) is resistant to ozone, weather aging, oil, solvent, flame retardant, insulation, water resistance, air tightness, tensile strength and other aspects.

The disadvantages are poor cold resistance and high specific gravity (density).

It is suitable for rubber pipes, tapes, conveyor belts, wires and cables, air conditioning rubber products, as well as sealing products of buildings, ships and automobiles.


5 nitrile rubber (NBR) can be used under 120 degrees temperature for a long time, good air tightness after butyl rubber oil resistant, wear resistance, good tensile performance functions such as (note: this material belongs to semiconductor rubber, therefore not suitable for insulation products) is suitable for automobile, machinery, rubber hose, seals, cable sheath, sponge products, etc.


HNBR (HNBR) can be used in -40-180 degree working environment for a long time, with good processing performance, high strength, excellent wear resistance, small permanent deformation, and unique ozone resistance and hydrogen sulfide resistance.

It is suitable for engine seal products, oil seal, oil field, rubber products for drill pipe, cryogenic tubing, air conditioning pipe and electronic system protection parts.


Ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) is resistant to weather aging, low temperature, electrical insulation, acid and alkali resistance.

Widely used in construction, automobile, ship door and window seal, wire and cable, automobile, motorcycle parts and other industrial products.


8 silicone rubber (SR) can be used in -60-120 degree working environment for a long time.

The disadvantages are wear resistance, tear resistance, oil resistance and chemical resistance.

It is widely used in the fields of electric heating and electric appliances, electronics and electrical industry, aviation, national defense, machinery, construction industry, medical treatment, food hygiene, kitchen supplies, household sundries, etc.


Fluorine rubber (FPM) has excellent high temperature (250 degrees) and dielectric properties, as well as excellent oxidation, oil, chemical corrosion and wear resistance.

The drawback is that the processing technology is more difficult.

It is widely used in scientific fields such as aerospace missile rocket and industrial equipment, such as rubber tube, seal, wire, diaphragm, tape and anti-corrosion lining.


The 10 butyl rubber (IIR) has the best airtight performance among all kinds of rubber, excellent heat-resistant aging performance, ozone resistance aging performance, and electrical insulation performance.

It is widely used in inner tire, capsule for vulcanization, water tire, air tire, auto parts, electric wire and cable, rubber tube, tape, building waterproof sheet, door and window sealing strip for blocking material (such as medicine bottle cap), as well as anticorrosion of chemical equipment.


11 polysulfide rubber (TR) has good properties of oil resistance, hydrocarbon solvent resistance, atmospheric aging resistance, water resistance, and low temperature flexibility.

At the same time, it has good adhesion to various materials, used as automobile sealing materials, non-drying rubber putty and chemical equipment lining, road paint and oil resistant paint, paint, oil resistant rubber tube insulating glass sealing.


12 polyacrylate rubber (ACM and ANM) can be used at a temperature of 175-200 degrees, with good air tightness, weather aging resistance, heat resistance and oil resistance.

The disadvantages are water resistance and low temperature resistance.

The processing performance is difficult to master, vulcanization process is corrosive to the mold.

It is mainly used for sealing parts of automobile industry and rubber pipes and cloth with special requirements.


13 ethylene/ethyl acetate rubber (EVW) can be used for a long time at the temperature of 175 degrees, with excellent flame retardant performance and oil resistance.

Suitable for subway, high-rise building, Marine high performance halogen free flame retardant wire and cable and other sealing products.


14 chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a kind of heat resistance, weather resistance, flame resistant special synthetic rubber, excellent electric properties and chemical resistant conduct performance, moreover also has oil resistance, ozone resistance, weather resistance, heat-resistant ageing, fire resistant, widely used in fire resistant weatherability good wire and cable, seal products and require heat resistance, acid-proof, fire resistant rubber hose, adhesive tape and plastic roller and other industrial products.


15 thermoplastic styrene-butadiene rubber (SBS) is the most economical thermoplastic elastomer variety with the highest yield (7%).

The disadvantages are heat resistance and poor oil resistance.

Widely used in handle, toys, sports equipment, shoes and other fields.


16 thermoplastic elastomer (SEBS) is a saturated SBS produced by hydrogenation, which is resistant to aging and ozone.

The disadvantages are heat resistance and poor oil resistance.

Use a temperature range of -60-100 degrees.

Widely used in handle, toy, sports equipment, medical accessories and other fields.


17 thermoplastic elastomer (TPV) is a dynamic vulcanized EPDM/PP blend.

Cold and heat resistance, excellent elasticity, aging resistance, ozone resistance, tear strength, chemical resistance, excellent stain performance, can be used at -60-135 for a long time.

Widely used in automobile, ship, mechanical parts, rubber duct tape and various industrial products, often used to extrude various sealing strips.


18 thermoplastic polyurethane rubber (TPU) with outstanding abrasion resistance, high elasticity, high mechanical strength, excellent oil resistance and excellent flexural flexibility. The long-term service temperature can be between -40 to 120 degrees.

The disadvantage is that there are few varieties of low hardness.

It is widely used in brake pipe, oil pipe, interior decoration, cable, pipe, shoe material, sports equipment and other materials.


Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most widely used plastics at present. It is economical and has excellent flame retardant, chemical resistance, high wear resistance and good electrical insulation.

The disadvantage is poor cold resistance, winter to become hard and brittle, and its chlorine is irritant.

Widely used in all walks of life, cars, construction, machinery, consumer cable, and so on.

Door and window sealing and other fields are widely used.
